SUCCESS! Final Results of Ruben Padilla’s Photography For a Cause!

You all did it again! Thank you so much for your efforts to make this Photography For a Cause such a success! We raised $3,947.38 to help my father-in-law, Ruben Padilla, with his ongoing treatment of esophageal cancer! Midway through this 5 day Photography For a Cause sale, we set a goal of raising $1,500 and we exceeded it! You are awesome!!!

Yesterday, Ruben had his final pre-op appointment and everything looked ideal for surgery! So his esophagectomy is scheduled for a week from today, December 16th. Pending any complications, the surgery should last 10-12 hours and then Ruben will be hospitalized for the next 2-3 weeks. For most of the hospitalization, Ruben will only eat via a feeding tube and will hopefully start a soft food diet once he is able to return home. Then there is a fairly intensive 4-6 month recovery process afterwards. The lifestyle changes are another challenge. For instance, Ruben will never be able to sleep on his back ever again.
