Yesterday was a glorious day in NYC! I walked the entire parade route and this is what I learned:
- Men in uniform get all kinds of attention from da ladies
- Cool St. Patty’s Day socks ROCK!
- Where there is a Port-a-potty, there is a party!
- Children LOVE parades.
- St. Patrick’s Day is a party for everyone – dogs too!
- Drunk people are funny when you aren’t responsible for them
- I am SUPER excited for Spring in NYC! Talk about GORGEOUS!
This is what I saw (I’ve become quite decent at shooting from my hip. I can’t decide if that’s a blessing or a curse yet!) and don’t forget to watch the schnazzy video too with some fun Irish music, entitled “A Bucket Full of Mountain Dew”!
Really like this shot for some reason. Can’t quite place my finger on it!
I really really really wanted this hat!
One of my favorites of the day
Nothing like crashing out in Central Park after a long morning of St. Patty’s Day parading!
Hit “Play” and then “Pause” and let the red fill all the way up before hitting “Play” again so you see the entire video smoothly 🙂
i like that second shot, too. it’s the light in her hair, and the smooth lines in the body language. it speaks to me, too.
This looks like quite a day, Chris! Our Hartford St. Patty’s Day parade was last Saturday and it was cold and raining hard. Looks like NYC got some of this better weather! I’m enjoying your city images– makes me want to visit the Big Apple.
awesome video, chris! i love st patty’s day parades for street photography. this year was miserably cold in manhattan, so i barely got the camera out. =p
what did you use to put the video together?
thanks all!
@Erica – thanks for elaborately explaining why I like that shot 🙂
@Betsy – you should totally make a trip!!!
@Rik – used imovie ’08 to put the video together. simple and works for me!
first can i just say that i’m uber jealous that i was in a cubicle all day for st pattys day and you were out doing this?! in NEW YORK?!
but seriously…the pixie of a leprachaun chickey is adorable. and i love the sea of green in the park. 🙂
ahaha Jeni! not sure how “glamorous” my life is in NY, but I must admit it is interesting! 🙂
